BASIC TRADE SHOOT INFO:

First let me express my thanks for accepting my invitation to come and work with me or for reaching out with the desire to work together. I sincerely appreciate it. You have something that I really value and want to create fantastic imagery with you that we will both love and can benefit from.

For this type of shoot, no money changes hands. This kind of shoot is typically done for improving portfolios, testing lights, equipment or locations. It can also be purely for the passion of making art, practice, and/or personal improvement. It is basically a collaboration for the benefit of all participants.

HOW LONG DOES THE SHOOT TAKE?

Usually a minimum of an hour for simple shoots and several hours for complex location work. I encourage you to be honest and forthcoming about how you're feeling before and during the shoot. I'm a very easy going guy and I want you to feel as comfortable as possible. This is important! If we have to conclude early or reschedule because one of us isn't feeling well, then that's ok. I want us both to be at our best for the shoot as this will yield the best results.

WHAT CLOTHING ITEMS SHOULD I BRING?

Clothing or costume items will all be discussed ahead of time for whatever the objective of the shoot is. I encourage selfie photos of you wearing some of your clothing items for potential shoots. This will help greatly in my ability to visualize concepts and design the shots. And this will save a lot of time in lieu of having to try on clothing items the day of the shoot.

CAN I BRING SOMEONE WITH ME?

No. In order to facilitate the best possible interaction and goal of achieving the perfect looks and expressions for the shots, a minimum of distraction is needed. My studio is currently in my home and I do not have the facilities to host guests and individuals not directly involved with the shoot. Often an assistant, makeup or other support crew will be needed depending on shoot complexity. It may be ok on a location shoot and will be considered on a case by case basis.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SHOOT?

I will review all the raw images and normally select about 25-50% of them to create proofs and post to a site for review. We can then start to narrow in on the shots for editing.

WHAT IMAGES WILL I RECEIVE?

For this type of shoot, I guarantee a minimum of two edited/retouched images. One image of your choosing and I will edit one selection of my own. In fact I often edit many more but this depends highly on my available time, how well the shoot went and the purpose of the shoot to begin with. It's difficult to give completion times as workloads change and often push this back. It's normally no longer than 3 months for complex composite edits and shorter for simpler edits like fitness or head shots. All delivery will be in the form of digital files. These images can not be used for anything other then personal or professional promotion. NO type of commercial use without a purchased license or written permission is acceptable. Beyond the selected images for trade, there is always the option to purchase additional edits for $50 each for simple edits and $100+ for complex edits like composites and beauty shots.

DO I GET ANY OF THE UN-RETOUCHED PROOF IMAGES?

I do not provide the proofs for several reasons. The main reason is quality. I provide two retouched photos as part of the session agreement. The proofs are only a tool for choosing the right final images. They are not a finished product and therefore not for public consumption.  I am very proud of the quality of my retouching and work very hard to maintain consistency. You want to put your best face forward. So do I.

WHAT ABOUT IMAGE POSTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA?

I make the promise that I will never post a photo of you (or anyone) without your permission. This is regardless of the kind of shoot we are doing. I require that images delivered and posted not be altered, filtered or cropped in any way. The time I take to edit and crop images is a large part of the art form and changing these things seriously compromises my integrity and intention as an artist. I also require that logos remain on the images and be visible in their entirety. If you need a special edit, crop, or version without my logo for a particular use such as an agency site, please just ask and I will be happy to do one for you.
